Screen Reader works as advertised: it puts text-to-speech functionality at your disposal. So if you don’t want to read text yourself, you could have this software application read it to you. Screen Reader puts two options at your disposal: load a text file into the application and click the play button; select text from any other application, press the Speak button from Screen Reader’s floating bar.

You will complete the Screen Reader installation in no time at all. After all, you don’t have to do anything too complicated. Just download an installer, run it, and then go through the simple instructions it presents onscreen.

The main panel on Screen Reader’s interface lists the text that will be read out loud. As mentioned above, there are two ways of adding text to this list:
1 – Use the Open (Ctrl+O) function to load text into the application. You can also drag and drop text files onto Screen Reader’s interface.
2 – go to any application you want and select some text; then click the Speak button from Screen Reader’s interface. Please don’t mix the Play button with the Speak button. The Speak button is to the far left; it’s the one that looks like a speaker.

The reading speed can be adjusted. You can increase and decrease the reading speed; you can also select a custom reading speed. Screen Reader works with Windows text-to-speech voices that are installed and enabled. The easiest way to switch from one voice to another is by using hotkeys. The interface highlights the word that’s being read out loud.

Sometimes you can’t or you don’t want to read text yourself. Screen Reader lends a helping hand by reading text to you.

Pros

Little time will go into installing Screen Reader on a Windows PC. The Screen Reader interface provides support for multiple colors. Said interface is incredibly easy to use. Screen Reader works with Windows text-to-speech voices that are installed and enabled. The interface highlights the word that’s being read out loud. You can change the speed for faster or slower speech.

Cons

None that I could think of.
